How do QR Codes work with Text Giving?
QR Codes help your supporter to donate via Text Giving by pre-filling the 'recipient' and 'message' fields in the messaging app on their phone. When a supporter scans a Donr Text Giving QR code, they are taken to their phone's messaging app, with your Text Giving campaign's shortcode phone number pre-filled as the 'recipient', and your Text Giving campaign's keyword pre-filled as the 'message.'
All the supporter then needs to do is press send, and they will make a donation of a set amount to your Text Giving campaign. Each QR Code can only be used to help supporters donate one specific whole-pound amount from £1 to £20.
How do I generate a QR Code for my Text Giving campaign?
Once you have set up your Text Giving campaign, follow these instructions to generate a QR Code for it:
1. Log into your Donr dashboard and navigate to Text Giving
2. Select the three dots button next to the campaign you are creating a QR code for, and click 'Configure'
3. On the configuration screen, select 'QRCode Generator' tab.
4. The 'Keyword' and 'Shortcode' fields will be pre-filled. Select the amount supporters you'd like to give by scanning the QR Code (this can be your campaign's default donation amount, or any whole pound amount from £1 to £20).
5. Click 'Generate' and a QR Code will appear on screen. To download a copy of the QR Code to your device, click 'Download'.
What if my Text Giving campaign is a 'Donation and Marketing Consent' campaign?
If your Text Giving campaign is a 'Donation and Marketing Consent' campaign, it has the ability to take your supporters' consent to further contact via phone call or text message, after their donation. Our system auto-generates a NOINFO opt-out keyword variant for these campaigns. For instance, if you set up MOUSE on 70085 as a 'Donation and Marketing Consent' campaign, our system would auto-generate MOUSENOINFO on 70085, as the opt-out variant. You must promote both MOUSE on 70085 as the opt-in to further communications option, and MOUSENOINFO on 70085 as the opt-out option to comply with appropriate regulations around consent to contact.
The same applies when using QR Codes. If you are generating a QR Code for a 'Donation and Marketing Consent' campaign, the 'Keyword' field will become a drop-down menu containing both the opt-in keyword variant and the opt-out keyword variant. You should complete the above process twice and generate a QR Code for the opt-in keyword variant and a separate QR Code for the opt-out keyword variant. You should then promote both QR Codes on your promotional materials, letting supporters know which to scan to donate and opt-in to further communications, and which to scan to donate and opt out of further communications.
What if my Text Giving campaign does not have a default donation amount set?
If your Text Giving campaign does not have a default donation amount set, the 'Default' option will not appear in the 'Select Amount' field, when you're going through the above process. You'll need to decide how much you'd like a supporter to donate by scanning the QR Code. Each QR Code can only be used to help supporters donate one specific whole-pound amount from £1 to £20.
What promotional wording should I use to promote Text Giving donations via QR Code?
For 'Donation and Marketing Consent' campaigns:
Ensure you follow the instructions above and, once you have generated your two QR Codes, promote them with wording such as:
Please scan this QR Code to donate £X via text message and opt into further communications from us.
*Image of opt-in QR Code*
Please scan this QR Code to donate £X and via text message opt out of further communications from us.
*Image of opt-out QR Code*
Texts will cost the donation amount plus one standard network rate message.
For 'One-off Donation' campaigns
Promote your QR Code for a donation to your 'One-off Donation' Text Giving campaign with wording such as:
Please scan this QR Code to donate £X via text message. You will not be opting into further communications from us.

This will cost the donation amount plus one standard network rate message.
For 'Regular Donation' campaigns
Promote your QR Code to help supporters set up a monthly donation to your organisation via your 'Regular Donation' Text Giving campaign with wording such as:
Please scan this QR Code to donate £X per month via text message. You will not be opting into further communications from us.
