Gift Aid lets UK charities claim an extra 25p from the government for every £1 you give. It doesn't cost you anything. If you give £10 and add Gift Aid, the charity can claim £2.50, so your gift is worth £12.50.
You can only add Gift Aid if you're a UK taxpayer. Read more about Gift Aid on GOV.UK.
Adding Gift Aid to a text donation
When you donate by text (by texting a keyword to a short number, such as 70085), the charity may ask you to add Gift Aid. If it does, we send you a follow-up text with a link.
- Open the link in the follow-up text.
- Enter your name and home address, and confirm you're a UK taxpayer.
We pass your declaration to the charity, and the charity claims the Gift Aid from HMRC.
To change or cancel a declaration, see Can I cancel or change my Gift Aid declaration?
