Supporters need to text your keyword exactly, to the right shortcode. Only an exact match makes a donation. A few things don't matter, though.
What doesn't matter
- Capital letters. DONR, donr and Donr all work.
- A £ sign before the amount.
- A space between the keyword and the amount, or no space.
If a supporter texts the wrong keyword
A misspelt or similar keyword doesn't count as yours. If a supporter sends the wrong keyword to the right shortcode:
- If it's exactly another charity's keyword on that shortcode, the donation goes to that charity.
- If it doesn't exactly match any keyword on that shortcode, they won't get a reply. Our system doesn't recognise it as a donation.
If a supporter texts the wrong shortcode
- If you have exactly the same keyword on that shortcode too, the donation still comes to you.
- If another charity has exactly that keyword on that shortcode, the donation goes to that charity.
- If no keyword on that shortcode matches exactly, they won't get a reply. Our system doesn't recognise it as a donation.
- If they text a shortcode that Donr doesn't run, we can't say what will happen.
To reduce mistakes, choose a keyword that's easy to spell (see what makes a good keyword), or use a QR code so supporters don't have to type anything.
